Feast was brilliant this year, putting the marquee up made all the difference – knowing we were under cover meant that we could happily prepare all manner of culinary delights – the food turn out was amazing – big thanks to all. And to everyone that helped put the Big T up …only to take it down again! more pics by Mary Alice here

An amazing achievement again by Debs & Pete and all who helped to make this happen (team Treloan and holidaymakers), plus all those who donated, bought, bid etc- last heard the count from the day was £1800 for charity
more of pics of the event by Mary are here – thanks Mary) and.. BIG respect to those we should’ve thanked on the night, but a few drinks in and festivity in the air we were all too busy enjoying ourselves! so ‘thank you’ Chris, Alyson & Steve who worked tirelessly throughout pulling out all the stops to make this happen – doing everything that’s involved in putting the marquee up, furnishing it and so on …and then taking it all down again.
thanks also to Amy, Buffalo, Hilary Bracegirdle, Ladies from St Gerrans Church, Simon the chef – delicious, Martin the auctioneer and Mac the poet (and helping hand)

2009 Treloan Fest news – the line up
September 21st, 2009 § Leave a Comment
In the spirit of all our events everyone’s chipping in to make this happen – a kind of ‘harvest festival’ of local community connections and talent. Come and join the party, we’re celebrating Pete, Debs, James and William’s move to the village, the campsite they’ve made so special and the success of the Caravanserai project.
1pm Bring and Share lunch (local produce if possible, please)
following on from our summer local food banquet feast and the Big Lunch on the Lugger hosed by Transition Roseland, you are invited to support local producers and retail outlets. Create delicious culinary delights to bring and share at a sit down lunch in the Treloan Festival marquee.
1pm -4pm Stalls / piano / open mic
Please get in touch with Debs at Treloan, if you’re intersted in having a stall. enquiries@traloancoastalholidays.co.uk / 01872 580989
4.pm Cake Celebration – led by Lois Wild
The idea is that everyone involved in the festival, Treloan and the Caravanserai project is represented through a cake, the cakes are all brought together on a table where everyone is invited to share the cake, any cake, for free and join in the celebration. There’s a BBC Radio Cornwall write up / interview with Lois about a previous life of this project here and photos of people with the cakes they produced here
4- 7 pm Invited poets and musicians / open mic session
Following on from our popular summer fireside events Mac Dunlop, performance poet and writer hosts invited guests – turn up on the day if you’d like to perform- details of performers so far and approximate time slots are listed below but check the Marquee board on the day for the line up.
Some of our faves from Mac’s repertoire: ode – do I not like bombs / jobs for lifeless / dirty bomb. Mac produces a weekly radio and web broadcast unspoken words for The Source FM.
4.pm Alyson Hallett
Alyson was here in August as part of the Caravanserai residency programme & returns to Treloan to share her poetry. Her work allows us to encounter poetry in all manner of forms & on October 13th, 2009, BBC Radio 4 will be broadcasting a programme about Alyson’s project, The Migration Habits of Stones, more detals here
5pm Du Hag Owr (and later at 8pm)
Our fantastic local shanty singers return to fill the air with their vocals – they’ll also be leading us down to the project field for the lighting of another wonderful fire sculpture by Caravanserai artist Hannah Cox.
Local musician, story teller and author Chris Pollard (check marquee board for times)
well, what can we say ..maestro of many talents, musician / author and big supporter of all things local and convivial including ardent Christmas greetings for everyday of the year
Thanks to Chris and Mary Pollard, Maria Daines will be headlining our fest at 9pm. Check this – Rockin Church Blues in Gerrans, Cornwall – Chris with Maria Daines & Paul Killington in the local church
6pm Tristan O Meara and friends
Aussie Blues, roots and dijeridu..
We met Tristan busking in Falmouth, he has recently moved himself and his assortment of instruments to the U.K. and he has been performing around Brighton, Manchester, rural England, Wales and Europe.
you can see a clip of Tristan headlining the opening night on the Isle of Wight International Didgeridoo festival here and at Montreux Jazz Festival here
7pm Zapoppin’
“here’s a photo..Poseurs we are”
Hailing from Falmouth , Zapoppin’s eclectic mix has been described as ..Z-shaped, good ol’ poetic power-skiffle played on organ, banjo and box by band members Thomas G.J. Sharpe, Luke Richards and Samuel Brettingham. “Gruesome imagery” – Clash Magazine / “Barnstorming sci-fi” – Lono Records
8 / 8.30 pm lighting the fire sculpture
Bristol artist Hannah Cox returns to Treloan to create a new fire sculpture for the festival, at 8pm our local shanty singers Du Hag Owr will lead us across the field to watch it being lit. Hannah’s last fire sculpture for our ‘feast’ event in August this year was stunningly beautiful and we look forward to seeing the new one.
9pm – headlining, Maria Daines
“Rock for the good times, Blues for the bad, Music for the soul”
Maria Daines fronts a multi-award winning rock band playing original material written by Maria & guitarist Paul Killington. Hailing from Cambridgeshire, UK, they formed in 1996 becoming a fixture of the live music scene & making several TV appearances, garnering fans in over 20 countries.
